Resources for Event Planners, Conference Organizers, Podcasts, and the Media

Thank you for your interest in R4 Style. Whether you're planning a conference, organizing a community event, hosting a podcast, writing a feature article, or looking for a keynote speaker, I appreciate the opportunity to be part of the conversation.

Every meaningful partnership begins with curiosity.

Before someone reads one of my books or attends a presentation, they usually want to know who I am, what R4 Style is, and why this work connects with people from so many different backgrounds and experiences. This page is designed to answer those questions while providing the resources event planners, conference organizers, podcast hosts, and members of the media need to introduce my work accurately and confidently.

R4 Style grew out of lived experience rather than academic theory. It is built on a simple belief: every life includes unexpected crossings. Illness, addiction, recovery, grief, disability, retirement, aging, caregiving, career transitions, and loss all have the power to redirect our lives. While every journey is unique, the emotions that accompany those experiences are remarkably universal.

The R4 Style Framework offers a language for understanding those transitions through four recurring realities—Rock Bottom, Recovery, Resilience, and Reinvention—guided by the central metaphor of The Crossing. Rather than prescribing solutions, the framework invites reflection. It encourages people to recognize where they are, understand what this season of life is asking of them, and continue moving forward with greater awareness and compassion.

Everything I write and every presentation I deliver is grounded in my own journey. Living with HIV since 1993, recovering from addiction, navigating disability, redefining my identity after retirement, and learning to age with purpose have shaped both my life and my work. Those experiences eventually became The Crossing Trilogy, R4 Style, and Notes from the Crosswalk. While the stories are personal, the conversations they inspire belong to all of us.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of speaking with healthcare professionals, recovery communities, LGBTQ+ organizations, older adult communities, nonprofit leaders, colleges and universities, faith communities, and civic organizations. Although every audience is different, the questions are often the same.

How do we rebuild after life changes direction?

How do we find purpose after loss?

How do we continue growing through uncertainty?

How do we create lives defined by meaning rather than simply survival?

Those questions continue to guide my work.

If you're preparing for an interview, podcast, conference, or feature story, topics may include the origins of R4 Style, the philosophy behind the Four R's, The Crossing, long-term HIV survivorship, recovery, resilience, disability, retirement, aging with purpose, storytelling as healing, LGBTQ+ aging, creating inclusive communities, and the development of The Crossing Trilogy. Every interview is tailored to the interests of your audience, and I'm always happy to explore additional topics relevant to your event or publication.

Short Biography

Rob Quinn is the founder and creator of R4 Style, a lived-experience framework built around Rock Bottom, Recovery, Resilience, and Reinvention. He is the author of The Crossing Trilogy—On the Other Side of the Street, Over Here: Life on the Other Side of the Street, and Still Here. Still Becoming. Through his writing, speaking, and advocacy, Rob explores resilience, recovery, aging, purpose, and the lifelong process of navigating change with honesty, compassion, and hope. His work reminds audiences that while every crossing is personal, none of us has to walk it alone.

To support your event or publication, downloadable resources include professional author photographs, official book cover images, the R4 Style logo, approved biographies, presentation descriptions, book summaries, and promotional materials. My goal is to make working together as seamless as possible so you can focus on creating a meaningful experience for your audience.

If you're planning an event, producing a podcast, writing a feature story, or exploring a collaboration, I'd welcome the opportunity to continue the conversation. Every invitation is an opportunity to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and encouraged to keep moving forward.

Looking back, I'm grateful that the experiences I once viewed as interruptions became the foundation for this work. They taught me that stories have the power to connect us, honest conversations have the power to change us, and hope often begins the moment someone is willing to say, "You're not alone."

I hope our paths cross soon.
