REFLECTIONS

From the Middle of It All

Some crossings are understood through words. Others become clearer through an image, a moment, or a different way of seeing.

This page brings together the written and visual reflections of R4 Style—observations shaped by lived experience, honest questions, and the continuing work of making sense of change.

These reflections are not instructions or answers. They are invitations to pause, notice what may be happening, and consider what your own crossing might be asking of you.

Written Reflections

Notes from the Crosswalk

Notes from the Crosswalk is where I write from the middle of the journey—not only after something has been resolved, but while questions, uncertainty, and possibility are still unfolding.

The reflections explore change, survival, recovery, resilience, reinvention, aging, identity, purpose, and the unexpected ways life continues to reshape us. Some begin with a personal experience. Others begin with a question, a conversation, or a moment that caused me to stop and pay attention.

My experiences provide the lens, but they are not the only story. Each reflection is an invitation to consider what may be true in your own life.

You do not need to agree with every observation or recognize yourself in every story. Take what resonates, leave what does not, and move at your own pace.

Visual Reflections

Crosswalk Gallery

Not every reflection begins with words.

The Crosswalk Gallery brings together R4 Style quotes, images, visual metaphors, and moments from the continuing journey. Through curbs, crosswalks, open roads, changing landscapes, and the spaces between one place and another, the gallery offers another way to explore change.

Some images may remind you of recognition—the moment when something can no longer be ignored. Others may suggest uncertainty, movement, rebuilding, or the possibility of becoming.

There is no single meaning you are expected to find. A visual reflection may speak differently depending on where you are standing and what you are carrying.

Pause with what catches your attention. Notice what it brings forward.

Sometimes an image gives us language for something we have felt but have not yet been able to name.

“Sometimes we understand a crossing only after we stop long enough to notice what it is teaching us.”

The crossing continues through the stories we tell, the images we carry, and the meaning we discover along the way.
