Background, Interviews, and Press Information

R4 Style is a lived-experience framework created by author, speaker, and advocate Rob Quinn, MS. Built around Rock Bottom, Recovery, Resilience, and Reinvention, the framework explores what can happen when life changes direction and we are asked to rebuild within circumstances we did not necessarily choose.

My work grows from lived experience with illness, recovery, disability, grief, aging, retirement, identity, and reinvention. Through R4 Style, The Crossing Trilogy, speaking, advocacy, and ongoing reflection, I use those experiences to open broader conversations about change, survivorship, resilience, belonging, purpose, and what it means to continue becoming.

SHORT BIO

Rob Quinn, MS, is an author, speaker, advocate, and creator of R4 Style, a lived-experience framework for navigating life’s crossings. His work explores recovery, resilience, identity, disability, aging, purpose, and reinvention through the Four R’s—Rock Bottom, Recovery, Resilience, and Reinvention—and the metaphor of the curb, the crosswalk, and the other side of the street. He is the author of On the Other Side of the Street and Over Here: Life on the Other Side of the Street, with Still Here. Still Becoming. planned as the third book in The Crossing Trilogy.

THE FRAMEWORK AT A GLANCE

R4 Style is built around four recurring realities: Rock Bottom, Recovery, Resilience, and Reinvention. They are not stages or steps and do not necessarily occur in a fixed order. They can overlap, repeat, and appear differently across different periods of life.

The framework is paired with The Crossing, a simple visual metaphor for change. The curb represents recognition—the moment when something has changed and can no longer be ignored. The crosswalk represents uncertainty and movement. The other side of the street represents rebuilding, adaptation, and creating meaning within a changed life.

Together, these ideas provide accessible language for conversations about significant transition without prescribing how anyone should move through it.

AVAILABLE FOR CONVERSATIONS ON

I am available for interviews, podcasts, features, panels, and other conversations focused on life after significant disruption; long-term survival and recovery; resilience without minimizing hardship; identity and purpose after major transition; disability and adaptation; aging and reinvention; LGBTQ+ aging and belonging; community, advocacy, and volunteerism; and the development of the R4 Style framework and The Crossing Trilogy.

My approach combines lived experience, storytelling, reflection, and the broader ideas behind R4 Style.

CURRENT WORK

My current work includes R4Style.com, speaking and advocacy, Notes from the Crosswalk, and The Crossing Trilogy.

On the Other Side of the Street, published in 2025, introduces the lived experiences and imagery that became the foundation of R4 Style.

Over Here: Life on the Other Side of the Street, scheduled for publication in 2026, explores what happens after survival, when the work becomes learning how to live within changed circumstances.

Still Here. Still Becoming., planned for 2027, continues the conversation through aging, long-term survivorship, retirement, community, purpose, and continued growth.

Together, the books move from the question of whether we can cross, to how we live on the other side, to who we are still becoming.
